And the week following ...

Hmm. Let's review this past week, shall we?

I'm gonna have to say that the Jude Law and Nanny scandal was by far the juiciest. Poor Sienna Miller -- so young, so beautiful, so naive. But hey, Tom and Nicole's divorce catapulted her onto the A-list, so I can't see why this couldn't do the same for Sienna. No word yet on whether Jude and Sienna's engagement is still on, though Sienna's been spotted without her ring on. And now she's taking time off from her run of As You Like It at London's Wyndham Theatre. Gosh darnit, I was planning to go see her in that, too. Think she'll get over the dog by early September?

Actually, let's talk about Sienna Miller. She was slated to play Andy Warhol's muse Edie Sedgwick in "Factory Girl," but sources have said that she opted instead to do As You Like It. Who has the role of Sedgwick gone to, according to sources? Someone who, seemingly, could not be any more different: Katie Holmes. I'm appalled, to say the least. Sienna would've made a fantabulous Edie. Plus, Katie's not nearly near-anorexic-looking enough to pull it off.

In other news, Frankie Muniz engaged!? I have nothing nice to say about that or him, so I shall say nothing else at all.

I heard that on the set of A Prairie Home Companion, Meryl Streep pulled Lindsay Lohan aside for a quick lecture on professionalism and showing up late to set. Lohan's publicist denies it ... or maybe she's just in denial. I would be too if I had her job and had to keep up with Lohan's plethora of escapades.

SoCal summer

So the verdict is in: Summerland, after next week, is no more. I'm not surprised (at least, not anymore), nor am I disappointed. Jesse McCartney irritates me more and more the more I see him on television. And you know a show's gone sour when you have a sister (Danielle Panabaker) of an actress playing a sister (Kay Panabaker) of one of the main characters of the show (Jesse McCartney) playing the sister of said main character's best friend ("Bryce"). I'm sure JMac's real upset about the show ... so upset that he's going to mourn with the release of a second album. I'm sure The WB will be a little more careful next time it announces to the world that a new show has had the best premiere of all WB shows ever, lest it follows Summerland's lead and falls off the mainland like Los Angeles is bound to break away from the rest of the United States in some million years ...

But fear not, you can still get your share of Southern California after Summerland has long sunken into the throes of the Pacific. Laguna Beach: The Real O.C. is back for its second season. This season promises to be not only juicier, but trashier in the way only Kristin knows how to shake Laguna Beach up. The preview for season two appeared in the show's new timeslot of Monday nights at 10pm tonight and promised to bring the drama of LBHS' Class of 2005 along with a little bit of the drama of the Class of 2004 (minus the two brunettes, because they only detract from the show) ... the stakes seem a little higher, now that Lauren's licking Stephen's nose and Kristin is torn between staying with Stephen and moving onto bigger and better things. My vote for new favorite cast member? No, not cute-as-a-button Taylor (who shares the same exact name as Taylor Cole, female hottie of the aforementioned show Summerland), but old-timer Jessica Smith, Kristin's best friend and Dieter's ex-girlfriend.

If you couldn't tell, I cannot wait.

Teen-a-rama!

Lots of teen-show news ...

What's this I hear about Summerland being canceled? And I thought The WB proudly remarked that it was the most-watched premiere ever. On The WB, that is.

I've done my share of poking around on the internet and can find no official confirmation (of course not, the show is still on air as far as The WB is concerned). Rumors started flying when The WB announced their new fall lineup and Summerland was nowhere to be found. But Summerland's one of those weird shows that shows up in January and July -- I'm not gonna be concerned until I hear it from the horse's mouth.

Secondly, I just wanted to do a little so-called self-promotion: if you have digital cable, you should all check out a new show premiering tonight at 9pm called Instant Star. Especially if you're over the target audience's age, because it's just that much funnier. Little Tommy Q's "Girl, you're it." (I'm paraphrasing.) But best of all, it stars Alexz Johnson, a girl I (and I'm sure many of you) first spotted on the Disney Channel show So Weird. Well, she's all grown up now and a full-blown redhead on Instant Star, where she finally gets a chance to make use of that beautiful voice of hers. And plus, Kris Turner (Jamie)'s cute too.

Oh, and Nick Carter. Who's he with these days? Last I heard he hooked up with some English celebrity named Javine Hylton (hasn't he learned his lesson with those Hiltons?), but now I'm hearing that his new girlfriend is Brittny Gastineau ... weird, just weird. Considering I've seen quite a few episodes of The Gastineau Girls and never have I gotten an indication from Brittny that she's into guys remotely close to her in age -- nevertheless boy band members.

Pick me, Nick, pick me!

Yuck.

TomKat. Engaged. 'Nuff said.

Is this for real? It still seems like a huge joke.

Love dust remains in Hollywood smog.

Having been away from the exciting online circulations of celebrity gossip, I was shocked to hear today that wedding bells are sounding in Hollywood again.

First off, a huge surprise and not so much of a surprise all at once -- Paris and Paris. Apparently Paris (the Greek one) proposed to Paris (the American one) last Wednesday, but didn't prepare a ring! (Catherine would've turned him down on the spot!) The two were spotted shopping around in Hollywood for a ring today.

Catherine and I had decided just two days ago that if the two were ever to wed, they would most certainly name their child Paris. Hilton has previously been engaged to male model Jason Shaw, but broke it off before the two made the big dive. Supposedly, they're still good friends. It's a scary thought that she's fresh off of Mr. Backstreet Boy Nick Carter, because if that had gone any better, a baby Paris Carter could've sprung up in the near future. Hmm ... I wonder whose last name she's going to take. Two Paris Latsises married to one another is an extremely chilling thought.

And this ... "Zing?" as Seth Cohen would say. Even my dad is a little disheartened over Katie's decision. And my dad's well into his senior citizen years. Katie, Katie, Katie.

It's bugging us.

So Catherine is looking for this song. It's a fast song. It's probably from the early '80s or before because no one would dare write such obscure lyrics these days. She thinks a woman sings it or in it. It's not the Delphonics' version. And so it goes ...

lalalalalala means I love you

Help?

Gratefully yours,
The Glitterati

H&M: Hip and Modish

Some exciting news ... the dreadful line Karl Lagerfeld created for H&M is out ... and ...

Stella McCartney's in!

Her line, "Stella McCartney for H&M" (how original) will be unveiled at an H&M store near you this coming November. Let's hope Stella brings some color and life to the collection. That's certainly more than I can say for Lagerfeld's $99 demure black cocktail dress. And black trousers. And black blazer.

Say it isn't true!

I've heard rumors that our beloved Jake Gyllenhaal is dating none other than Hollywood hookup girl Lindsay Lohan!? She will soon be contaminating a handsome boy near you.

Lohan was spotted at Koi while Gyllenhaal was also there. The two left separately.

Let's make a list.

Lindsay Lohan
- Aaron Carter
- Chris Trousdale
- Jesse McCartney(?)
- Colin Farrell
- Wilmer Valderrama
- The Model
- Bruce Willis
- "Patrick"
- Talan Torriero
- Jake Gyllenhaal

And countless others in between, I'm sure. And each of these guys brings his own set of sexually transmitted diseases with them. Yay. So long as she stays away from my top 10, I'm good to go. Unfortunately, she has already infiltrated Catherine's.

From Access Hollywood, Lindsay's got her sights set on a role in Mission: Impossible 3. She told Access Hollywood: "I actually met with J.J. Abrams, who is directing (the film) ... I'm a huge fan of 'Lost' and 'Alias,' so hopefully, we will see what happens. If so, I'll be in training for a few weeks, putting on some muscles."

She needs some muscles.

And for a clip of Paris Hilton stretching her limits and playing someone very unlike herself, click here! (Warning: momentary nudity towards the end)

The Longest Hour of My Life

Chaotic. More like anything BUT. I suppose somewhere in between the VERY close-up shots of her crater face, we do get glimpses of "the real Britney." And I must say, it was quite sad. She obviously has some bitterness issues to deal with, ie: "I knew JC from before, because he was in a group called NSYNC. I don't know if anybody's ever heard of them before." Ouch!

Yes, I believe she was sincere when she talked about how lonely she was, and how there was a void in her life. But lonely to the point of flying a guy, that she only met for like, five minutes in a club in LA (how skeevy is that?!), out to London because she "wouldn't continue her tour without him." And then bragging about having sex with him three times in one day? Ok, no thanks. Too much information.

The home video feel of the show just makes me dizzy. And what's with the night vision? Paris has already been there, done that. I hear next week is going to be clips off the Britney cam again. I wanna know what life is like for them NOW!

As much as I was waiting for Britney and Kevin to break up, it seems like this is something she really needs. So best of luck to them. Don't forget to tune in next week! Hopefully, 30 minutes will pass faster.

Spreading our wings.

We're at last posting on topics outside the very blonde realm of High School Hollywood (Paris, Lindsay, Nicole, Britney, Hilary, Nick Carter, etc.).

We're very sad to post that thirty-six year-old Australian popstar Kylie Minogue has been diagnosed with early breast cancer. I'm sure you've already heard the news. We wish nothing but the best to her as she goes through treatment. She is the second Neighbours cast member-turned-popstar to be diagnosed with cancer. Delta Goodrem, twenty, is in remission and is planning to break into the American radio circuit in the coming year.

The other bit of news isn't quite as dismal. New York's Daily News reports that Zach Braff treated a waitress at Aer a little more than rudely. Braff said to her, "You have beautiful tits."
Her story: "I was dressed as a nurse. ... He tried to give me a DVD and he said, 'Let me put it in your breasts.' I said no, and he was like, 'I'm just kidding.' I think it's gross. ... Mandy Moore was in the other room. He was drunk - he asked for, like, 100 shots. I've been there two months, and no customer has come on like that."

Sadly, Braff's rep couldn't exactly stand up for him: "Zach's said some pretty inappropriate things in the past, but he always 'fesses up to them, and he said he didn't say that. But I wasn't there."

Glad I wasn't there.

Carter on Hilton, at last.

Nick Carter finally opens up a little about his relationship with Paris Hilton, in response to a nasty comment that she made about him.

On a Canadian Top 30 countdown, Paris was asked to compare her new boyfriend Paris Latsis to Nick:
"Night and day, he's ... he's just not using me for anything, he loves me, he treats me like a princess, he's not a disgusting pig ... sorry."

Shannon Tyler of a U.S. radio station asked three of the Backstreet Boys (A.J., Nick and Kevin) what they thought.

Nick: "The way I look at it is maybe she should look in the mirror, first of all. Second of all, I kinda have to brush it off my shoulders because I look at it like she's very immature and if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all. That's the way I look at life. Obviously, she feeds off of, um, attention yeah, and just really like trying to hurt other people. And I've not been that way, I've never been that way."

Kevin felt strongly about the subject-matter and had his whole schpeal to say:
"It's frustrating for me because the five of us -- well, not the five of us, but the four of us outside of Nick -- have never done anything to say anything negative about her or anything at all. And then in a Rolling Stone article somebody told me she made a comment about the group. So I saw her a party and I went up to her and I'm like, 'Can I talk to you for a second?' and she was like 'Yeahhh' so I pull her aside and I'm like 'Paris, the five of us -- I mean the Backstreet Boys, the four of us as a group -- have done nothing to harm you or said anything bad about you ever. I just heard about an interview that you did with Rolling Stone so I read it myself and I don't appreciate the comments that were made. And unless you want me comin' after you in the press and openin' up a whole can of worms,' I'm like 'you don't want me talkin' about you on the microphone. So you need to stop it,' I'm like 'Lay off my little brother' and don't say anything else about us.' And it angers me that she's started again because for a while, she didn't do anything. So it just angers me. And what really angered me the first time and what really made me really suspicious about her is one time we were in the studio workin' on the record, she came in right in the middle of the studio, interrupted an important meeting that we were havin' but it was Nick's birthday and she wanted to surprise him. She was like 'Oh, I'm sorry, but I have a surprise for Nick.' So we're like, 'Okay, cool.' We go out to the surprise and she's got a birthday cake with her face on it and three camera crews and two tabloid magazines. So what does that tell you about her? She's a press you-fill-in-the-blank."

Nick adds, "I almost feel sorry that she can't move on. You know, I'm not the one who called her a disgusting pig or anything. I've moved on, I don't care. If she's still got that negativity towards me obviously she's still got something goin' on. So I feel bad for her ... Nicole, during that whole thing -- 'cause I went out a little bit with them on that Simple Life thing that they did -- and Nicole, I don't know if it's because of her upbringing or her background, I related to her much more and I realized that when I went out with them. I related to her much more because she, you know, she was adopted and she is a really genuinely kind-hearted person. The problem with Paris is that she thrives off of hurting other people, and it's not just me."

What A.J. had to say?
He called Paris' new movie House of Wax "House of Crackpots."

There we have it. I transcribed that all myself, so be proud. And make your judgments wisely ;).

LA smog blocking out the love particles in Hollywood air?

Not one to trust Star magazine, but rumors have been circulating for a little while now that nineteen-year-old O.C. star Mischa Barton and heir boyfriend Brandon Davis have split.
Teen People said earlier this week that "The couple hasn't been photographed together since mid-March and Mischa failed to show up at an April 22 benefit for Brandon's mother's organization, Race to Erase M.S."
The Daily News quotes "a source": "She wants to take a break ... She wants to focus on her career...she thinks he's too much of a party boy."
As the current season of The O.C. wraps up, Mischa, 19, is not slowing down. The actress, who was born in London and raised in New York, recently flew to Italy to start production of The Decameron, a new flick co-starring Hayden Christensen based on the Italian masterpiece ... Brandon, 24, is scheduled to graduate from University of Southern California this week and is starting off as an art dealer. He already flew to Italy to visit Mischa, but the Daily News reports that some wonder if he's trying to throw some glue on a broken relationship. Others are not so cynical. "They're still very much in love," a friend told the paper.

For a full-length (and possibly fabricated) analysis of their breakup, check out the article at starmagazine.com.

Other celebrity couple news: (I scoped out the scene while I was over at Star's site)
Heidi Klum and Seal have gotten married on a beach in Mexico and Jessica has split from Nick. But c'mon, no one could ever love Jessica like Nick does. I won't believe it till I hear it from the not-so-new Newlyweds themselves.

Kiss kiss.

I'm not usually turned on by Christina Aguilera (or any girl for that matter), but the thought of her enjoying a hot dance at lesbian club GirlBar does it for me.

Look at those bad-girl fire engine red nails! She even looks hot in her sweatshirt and jeans.

I wanna be just like Christina when I grow up ...

Deserving of said position, if not deserving of a higher position.
Not deserving of said position.
Uh, self-explanatory?

I really do not understand why Arielle Kebbel made the list at all, why Kim Smith is still around (although she is admittedly hot -- even if she is the "*N Sync Girl"), what Jennifer Love Hewitt and especially Lacey Chabert is doing on the list.

What about Elisha Cuthbert!?

Try Mr. Renee Zellweger on for size

How long do you think this one will last, considering they met January of this year (so I'm told from a somewhat reliable source)?

Late news, but still good news.

Dolce vs. Gabbana

This just in from The New York Post:
... Jennifer Lopez, John Travolta and Kelly Preston, Oprah Winfrey, Gisele Bundchen and Naomi Campbell boycotted the Costume Institute gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday night after their hosts, fashion designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, had a fit over the placement of their table. Meanwhile, Jessica Simpson, who did attend the event, ended up in tears after her dress zipper got stuck.

I'm envisioning this whole thing as a black and white silent movie from the '20s. Can't you just hear the funny music, D&G rolling and roughing each other up on the floor, celebrities leaving -- one by one -- and then ... and THEN ... Jessica getting her zipper stuck and bursting into a ball of Lucille Ball tears in the midst of all the calamity.

I love it.

Seventeen magazine has magical powers ...

This from ExtraTV.com:

NEW YORK - Hollywood's newest couple — Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes — may strike some as unlikely, but the match was foretold in Seventeen magazine.

"I think every little girl dreams about (her wedding)," Holmes told Seventeen in October. "I used to think I was going to marry Tom Cruise."

Earlier this week, publicists for both actors confirmed the two had been dating for a few weeks. They have been photographed in Rome, where Cruise received a lifetime achievement award Friday at the David di Donatello Awards, the Italian equivalent of the Oscars.

When asked by a reporter for syndicated entertainment show "Extra" about Holmes' suddenly realized dream, Cruise replied, "I don't want to disappoint her."

Cruise, 42, wouldn't divulge how he met the 26-year-old Holmes, but said it was "like a dream" to have her with him for the awards ceremony.

"She's such an extraordinary woman," said Cruise. "It's beautiful. I feel really happy. I'm more than enamored." The interview was to air Friday night.

Coincidence, or cause of breakup? Hmm. I guess that's for Katie to know and us to find out.

I just HAD to!

Whilst skimming through IMDB's upcoming releases list some weeks ago, I came across the preliminary review of Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire. Read on.

In the most-obvious press release ever, director Newell indicated that he was going to continue with the dark themes and visuals introduced by Alfonso Cuarón in The Prisoner of Azkaban. For Harry's young fans, however, the announcement was lost amongst their confusion as to who exactly Mike Newell is. I'm not saying that Four Weddings and a Funeral is a bad movie (it's terrible); I'm saying that Newell would have been the right choice for GoF if Harry and his crew either [A] decide to infiltrate the mob, or [B] all become women and enroll at Wellesley.

That is all ;).

They're looking quite pretty

From shopintuition.com, of course. Does Chinatown sell these knockoffs? I need something to wear on my long flight but I don't want an eyepatch (ahoy!), nor do I want to damage $165 sunglasses by sleeping on them.

Tom Cruise. And Katie Holmes.

Nice score, Katie!

Disney, meet MTV.

You heard it here first:

Talan Torriero of MTV's Laguna Beach is seen here with none other than Disney's It Girl Lindsay Lohan.

The caption that goes along with this set of photos reads:
"IT" GIRL LINDSAY LOHAN TAKES OUT SOME NEW ARM CANDY TO THE POPULAR SPIDER CLUB IN HOLLYWOOD. THE TEEN SENSATION HAS BEEN GETTING EXTREMELY CLOSE TO A MYSTERIOUS PRETTY BOY THAT SHE HAS TAKEN HOME THE PAST COUPLE OF NIGHTS.

Interesting.

He's got one of the highest male voices I've ever heard. But hey, Lindsay's raspy voice can more than make up for that.

Battle of The Blondes

Over a dinner of an Indian wrap, basil fettucine and ... mashed potatoes, the pop world brings you the latest developments in the rehashed and rehashed again battle.

Today's Contenders:

Lohan vs. Duff

Lindsay Lohan

(credit ... who knows. Sorry!)
Lovers and haters alike have been at Lohan's throat for the past week, since the little miss has been spotted around New York City with golden tresses. What gives? Apparently she said in a magazine that she would never part with her naturally red hair. Her overworked publicist claims that Lohan dyed it to play Meryl Streep's daughter in the film A Prairie Home Companion, which is now under production.

Verdict: What's the big deal? No one jumps on her on the more important things in life! Leave the poor girl's hair alone. A girl's right is to mess with what sprouts from her head -- especially if she's getting paid to do it.

Hilary Duff

I think this is as blonde as blonde can be when it comes to our favorite little sweetheart. Except she's looking less sweet than ... sexy here. Not sure what's doing it, but we're sure it has something to do with Joel having way too much fun with the paparazzi blowing Hil's cover. Not to mention her boy toy looks none too attractive with his slight double chin and pervy smirks. Uh ... what's the age difference again?

Verdict: We think she should play more mean girls, 'cause she looks hot when she's angry!

Winner: Duff. Although in this happy pop world, we're all winners -- especially if the Glitterati are cutting Lohan some slack.

P.S. What's up with only commenting on the superficial and leaving us in the dark about your opinions on the more controversial? Speak up, please!

Sunday, April 17, 2005

This is the wrong way.

I'm so sick and tired of celebrities trying to preach to us. About what we should and shouldn't do, particularly when there isn't a clear right or wrong.

Examples? P. Diddy's "Vote or Die" campaign. Or ... die? C'mon now. No one's going to die if they don't vote -- unless they're hinting at the dangers of more terrorist acts and soldiers lost "on account" of George W. Bush and not voting for him ...

As much as celebrities are trying to help make the average person aware of the issues that our world is dealing with, I don't necessarily think it's always their place to do so. If we come down to the bare bones of it all, celebrities are usually celebrities because they're entertaining. And their job is to entertain.

I'm not how pleased I'd be if even my favorite celebrity (although we have recently ascertained that I don't quite have a favorite celebrity) tried to "enlighten" me. But maybe I'm not the average consumer/fan, who'd buy anything my favorite celebrity touched or spoke positively of.

I'm particularly annoyed with the new show on MTV, featuring Cameron Diaz and her environment-saving posse. Can we please move this to the Discovery Channel? I understand that they're trying to reach out to a new audience, but 1) it's completely unrelated to music and 2) if someone's going to watch it because of Cameron Diaz, they're going to watch her on Discovery Channel anyway. I know I'm not counting the handfuls of people that get pulled in because they're channel-surfing or just watch MTV 24/7, but, honestly. I want my MUSIC TELEVISION. I don't want to be talked down to or educated.

And this new campaign, also launched by MTV (who is turning out to be the America of the television stations, trying to save the world, one viewer at a time), is a rally against AIDS and extreme poverty. Okay, so Ryan Gosling's part of it. But so what. Lines like:

"Wear the white band and show your support for the ONE Campaign and the fight against global AIDS and poverty. Worn by teachers, doctors, and homemakers. You've seen them in the pages of People and US Weekly on your favorite stars, get your band now! The white bands are part of a global effort to make poverty history."

are not going to sell them to me. Sure, I'll buy it just cuz everyone who's anyone in People magazine is wearing it! Please.

I just think it's stupid to manipulate people into doing something they don't give a rat's ass about. So what if a teen had voted because their favorite celebrity had told them to? Does that mean that they can make an informed decision? Or are they just going to choose randomly, or worse yet -- make a decision based on their favorite celebrity's leanings?

Call me a romantic, but I don't think you should support something unless you mean it and you're passionate about it. And you genuinely care.

Watch the "preview" video here to see that what it all comes down to is another sex-driven sell. Particularly Jewel's oh-so-genuine plea. (And I like Jewel.)

While you're there, why don't you just donate a couple bucks to them too? And sign the declaration. Everyone's doing it ...

P.S. MTV, it's "Who has signed ..." not "Who've signed."

YUCK!

The latest news from britneyspears.com:

"Dear Fans,

The time has finally come to share our wonderful news that we are expecting our first child together. There are reports that I was in the hospital this weekend, Kevin and I just want everyone to know that all is well. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.

Love,
Britney & Kevin"

So, Mr. and Mrs. Spears, why the nasty letter to the false tabloids just two weeks ago? I think I speak for the both of us when I say I am absolutely grossed out. I guess their breakup won't be happening anytime soon. Unless Paris comes along and decides she doesn't want Paris anymore and would rather have Kevin. He did leave his other girlfriend in the middle of her pregnancy.

On a lighter note, a very Happy Birthday to my midorisour! Once again, it's not all it's cracked up to be. Maybe ask me next year. Although we won't have to wait that long ;)

Sweet nothings

According to filmfodder.com, Paris Hilton will be starring as a "vapid reality star." Doesn't sound too far from the truth, I'm sure she'll give a true-to-life portrayal. Don't ya think?

A review of The Upside of Anger to appear shortly. I saw it last Saturday and haven't gotten the chance to write one yet.

As a side note:
Guy Ritchie's father John spoke with The Sun and revealed that Madonna and Guy are not able to understand their own children because they've become fluent in French attending Lycee Francais School in west London, where they study the language. "Rocco is certainly picking up a lot of French," John said. "He speaks it all the time at home because Lourdes is fluent. They talk to each other in French all day, chatting away non-stop. It's very funny. Neither Guy or Madonna speak a word of the language so they cannot understand anything."
(credit Popdirt.com)

That's what I want my kids to be like. Except I'll know the French ;).

A quickie.

From Popdirt.com:
In Touch magazine reports that Lindsay Lohan donated a bunch of her old clothes to a charity for homeless women in Los Angeles, though they may not be that useful. "A lot of the ladies couldn't fit into some of Lindsay's skimpier party outfits, some of which had never been worn," a source revealed. "And some of the see-through clothes won't keep them very warm."

Clueless, anyone?

Regular updates will return momentarily.

I'm back -- with a half-assed tan.

Too bad it rained half the time I was there. Even "more" bad, that all the celebrities mosied on over to the East Coast while I was on the other side of the damn continent.

But, yes, you have full rights to Louis and Elvee.

Yes, AOL can!

I've been signing onto AOL recently because AIM has those #*@&$@ Ring2 ads. And I SWEAR, I don't click on it, but this little pop-up movie thing comes up with NO provocation and starts playing some "She didn't die" crap. Well, anyway, so I sign onto AIM today, and I see that creepy little girl floating around, so I sign on to AOL instead. Lo (heehee) and behold, there's a movie playing on the AOL Welcome Screen of... what?? A hand putting a tape into a VCR, and a caption proclaiming "Naomi (who is that?) takes you inside the Ring." Needless to say, I x-ed that shit before the floating girl came on. AOL GO TO HELL.

On another note, HAVE A SAFE TRIP, LC! I miss The Pop World already =( I hope you're having a wild time! Be sure to tell me all about it so I can live vicariously through you =D

P.S. Instead of Dolce & Gabbana, I've decided on naming my chihuahuas Louis and Elvee. It may be a while before I can get them, but you have heard it here first on theglitteratini. If any celebs *cough*HIL*cough* get any more dogs with suspiciously similar names, you know who the original is.

Thursday, March 17, 2005

AOL can go straight to hell.

We've been saying this for years, but it really can now.

Headline reads: "Steriod Hearing Is Set to Begin"

'Nuff said.

I'm off to sunny(er) SoCal, so no posts from me for a while!
Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Kiss my arse.

On behalf of The Glitterati (one of whom, may I add, attended this very school), I am making a public outcry against this Daily News article. Not that the Daily News ever had any credibility, anyway. I do believe that a number of years ago, it had Winona Ryder on its cover for two or three consecutive days when much more important things were going on in our world (yes, this is coming from moi).

Seniors who graduated in 2002 did not get the sort of treatment these seniors are getting. Seniors of 2003 didn't either. And as far as I'm concerned, neither did seniors of 2004. College admission rates have steadily been going down over the past half-decade, at least. What makes the Class of 2005 any different?

STOP using September 11th to your advantage. It's not yours to use.

Snowy Saturday

What to do on a snowy Saturday afternoon?

Well, amidst all this talk about Wellesley College's Dyke Ball, there arises one knight in shining armor, one that almost makes the rest not-so-bad. We made Page Six!

'DYKE' DRUNKS

March 9, 2005 -- WELLESLEY College hasn't decided whether or not to cancel next year's "Dyke Ball," even after 11 co-eds who got drunk before the cross-dress fest sponsored by a lesbian, transgendered and bisexual group ended up in the emergency room the other night. The ball, a popular tradition at the women's college in which female partygoers wear Saran Wrap and corsets and men are clad as drag queens or in skimpy thongs, also turned into a boozy bacchanal last year, when a dozen students were hospitalized. Wellesley spokeswoman Mary Ann Hill told us, "We obviously take the incident very seriously, but we haven't made any decision about next year at this point." She added, "The party itself was an alcohol-free event. It was a very in-control party." College officials tried to encourage sobriety by sending pizzas and hot chocolate to dorms and pushing an alcohol awareness campaign that began after last year's party.

Onwards we move to the beloved Ryan Gosling. I found this quote to be particularly hilarious, but probably only because it's true: "Hostage" is a multiplex hybrid built from bits and pieces of "Desperate Hours," "Panic Room" and "Cellular," plus elements of Bruce Willis' "Die Hard" franchise and any youth-weirdo movie featuring Ryan Gosling. (Credit Philadelphia Daily News)

Lastly, taken from Popdirt.com, it's official! Joel Madden is a pervy little pedophile! (But we still love you.)
Us Weekly reports that Joel Madden, who celebrated his 26th birthday along with twin brother Benji on Friday, was spotted in several Los Angeles locations with 17-year-old Hilary Duff on February 26th. The couple's first stop was at Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf in Beverly Hills. "Joel was keeping her Chihuahua warm," an onlooker explained. "That puppy wasn't going to touch the ground as long as he was there." Afterwards, the pair made a pit-stop at Duff's house before lunching at Mexicali. "They held hands, and she was grinning," a witness said. "They're obviously tired of hiding."

Ew, ew, ew, ew, ew!

Lots of disgusting PDA stories from our favorite (or perhaps, least favorite) teen stars ...

As Bruce Willis prepares to turn 50 later this month, the actor enjoyed a mutual gropefest with 18-year-old Lindsay Lohan after the premiere of his new flick 'Hostage' at Peninsula Hotel. "At one point, Bruce had Lindsay's pants down far enough to reveal a tattoo that said 'La Bella Vista' (The Beautiful View) on her right cheek," a witness revealed. Eventually, Willis and a few friends, including Lohan, took the party upstairs to his suite.

Star magazine reports that Hilary Duff and sister Haylie Duff were doing some canoodling with their boyfriends at Hollywood's Club Xes for Haylie's 20th birthday bash. Underaged Hilary was "holding hands, snuggling and kissing up a storm all night long" with her 25-year-old Good Charlot[t]e beau Joel Madden, while Halie and her guy Erik von Detten were spotted "kissing in the corner."
(both stories credit popdirt.com)

Ew ... Haylie and Erik!? I don't know who to be more disappointed in, cuz Haylie has been lookin' quite hot with her brown hair of late. But still ... Erik -- tsktsk.

So touched

Instead of the customary Ashlee Simpson Show, I "watched" the 20/20 Special with Petra Nemcova, the Czechoslavakian model who survived the tsunami late last year.

It was more than moving, just her will to survive and her loss of love ... but her determination to make light not of but with it all and move on.

From ABC.com, "There are lots of things which I would love to tell [her deceased boyfriend, photographer Simon Atlee], but in some way, I also feel that I lost the person closest to me. And I got second chance to live. So in a way I feel that I live for both of us and I will do my best," Nemcova said.

She is my new hero.

Tuesday, March 08, 2005

I hate you.

AIM.com needs to hire some competent people.

Prominent headline: China Law Pressures Tiawan

By the way, that headline may as well not be there, because it doesn't say anything about anything. China Law? Chinese Law? I'm so confuzzled. It may as well say, "China Hates Taiwan."

You know it's true.

Bah. The Pop World is not happy today. She twisted her ankle getting back an Astronomy exam she did relatively terribly on.

Monday, March 07, 2005

Oh no, baby, not again ...

I thought he learned his lesson last time ...

The Associated Press says, quite eloquently (doncha think, with the dazzling quotes and all):

Carter, 25, was behind the wheel of a vehicle observed committing a traffic violation when police stopped him Saturday night in downtown Huntington Beach, police Lt. Dave Bunetta said.

"The officer that stopped him noticed some traffic violation was occurring," Bunetta said. "When he was contacted by the officers they conducted an investigation which would include field sobriety tests and they formed the opinion he was under the influence."

Carter was arrested and booked for investigation of drunken driving and his vehicle was impounded, Bunetta said. The type of vehicle wasn't disclosed.

It wasn't known how long Carter was in jail. Motorists arrested for drunken driving in Huntington Beach are typically held for a minimum of four hours then, after evaluation, are released with a citation ordering them to appear in court within 45 days, Bunetta said.

"Nick Carter deeply regrets the current situation. He is on doctor-prescribed medication and was unaware of its interaction possibilities," Carter publicist Juliette Harris said in a statement Monday.

From another source:
Because the investigation is still active, Bunetta could not release other details about the arrest or Carter's sobriety tests. "He was cooperative, and there was nothing unusual about his demeanor," Bunetta said.

I'm more inclined to believe the authorities, but given this happened at 7:30pm, I'm a little skeptical, or maybe incredulous is a better word, that he was drunk.

Poor, poor Nickee. At least you looked hot in your mug shot.

Yo. I shouldn't disrespect like that.

I hope you get sued.

I came across this site that offers many creative and original statement shirts (such as "I'm a Seth girl") as well as many ... not so original ones.

These shirts look a little familiar to you?

We best remove these before a lawyer comes-a-callin' ...

Oh no!

This is about as big of an "Oh no!" as the Jen-Brad thing. Almost.

Katie Holmes and Chris Klein have "broken up" -- or rather, called off their engagement (does that necessarily mean they've broken up, though?) after having dated for five years and been engaged for a little over a year. According to Us Weekly, a publicist (but not THE publicist, Leslie Sloane Zelnick -- poor woman, she also represents Lindsay Lohan or last I checked, before Lindz became the diva she is) said, "They broke off the engagement but are remaining good friends."

How sad. I never did like Chris Klein much, but who wouldn't love sweet little Joey Potter?

I'm alive!

I know i've been neglecting my duty as being half of the Glitterati, but that's because I've been taking care of my new baby. And playing Zoo Tycoon. And studying for midterms. Anyway, here's Bentley, the ORIGINAL. I hate Hilary Duff and I hate her pom named Bentley, but mine was first, and he's gangSTARRRR.

And here's Hil's fake Bentley. Take him and his ugly Lily Boots AWAY! G Boots and Dugs (above) are better anyway.

Interesting ...

An interesting article, although it doesn't offer much real speculation into the lives of Long Island teenagers, specifically those who later become big stars.

But she completely failed to address the factor of time. A lot has changed since Natalie Portman was 18 in 1999. Teenaged stars weren't the paparazzi's main target back then ... I think the world was just coming to terms with leaving the grunge world behind and embracing pop and teenagers again.

And are "Star Wars" and "Garden State" or "Closer" the first things that pop into your mind when you think Natalie Portman? I think Harvard University.

Friday, February 25, 2005

Uh oh, now.

Femalefirst.co.uk reports that Britney Spears, Paris Hilton and Pamela Anderson are among the host of stars barred from attending the Oscars this weekend, to reportedly prevent the evening from turning into a "downmarket scrum." A source explained, "Britney would have wanted her entourage with her, but the Academy wanted to keep things as tight and as highbrow as possible. They plan to focus on those people who have worked in the film industry for years - not people who are merely celebrities in other areas."

No other news. The pop world is tired; it only got four hours of sleep.

Let's keep it fresh.

An O.C. spinoff?? Who woulda thunk?

From thefutoncritic.com:
["The O.C." creator Josh Schwartz] did however indicate there are firm plans to develop a spin-off of "The O.C." itself. Said project would focus on Kaitlin Cooper, the younger sister of Mischa Barton's character, who has rarely been seen or mentioned as of late. It's understood Kaitlin will reappear on "The O.C." later this season or early next season, after which the spin-off will track her exploits at boarding school. It's not clear however if actress Shailene Woodley will reprise her role or if it will be recast for the spin-off, which is being likened to a small screen version of "Mean Girls."

Josh, this is a terrible idea.
1. We don't need to be teaching the 8-18 demographic any more bitchery skills.
2. The diamond in the rough that is your show, Schwartz, is Adam Brody. Without him, your show is nothing.
3. Kaitlin didn't have much of a personality, just like her older sis, Maris.
4. Hell, Kaitlin's not very pretty either.

Hate to be a "mean girl," but if he's really pursuing this idea, he's going to have to replace that Shailene Woodley and immerse Kaitlin into the tumultous world of hormone-dom.

Everyone wants in.

Not only has Michael Lohan, father of Ms. Lindsay Lohan, taken advantage of his daughter's career to further himself in his ... I don't even know what he was trying to make of himself, but now Michael's mother has spoken out as well:

The New York Daily News reports Lindsay Lohan's grandmother broke down yesterday following a hearing for the pop princess' troubled dad, saying extreme stress led her son to wreck his car Saturday. "I'm upset and I'm disappointed that all this is happening," said a distraught Marilyn Lohan, mother of Lindsay's dad, Michael. "He was doing so well. I don't know why he had to drive."
(credit popdirt.com)
Edit 7:26pm // Oh, brother.

Um ... I don't know why he had to drink.

Apparently Dark Angel Jessica Alba isn't too happy with a Lohan either. Ellen K of KIIS FM reports that Jessica Alba has been bashing teen queen Lindsay Lohan lately. With 4 movies coming out this year, Alba says she is a bigger star than Lohan, and that she only makes half of what the 'Mean Girls' star get per film at around $3 million. The 'Dark Angel' beauty added that she isn't fat with freckles either.
(credit popdirt.com)

It doesn't sound like something Alba would say, but hey, I feel the same way.

Lastly, this is old news, but Ms. Megan Mitchell needs to stay informed! Paris Hilton is now dating Greek heir Paris Latsis, who, from Catherine's research, "raised eyebrows" for having an affair with a Greek actress before her divorce from her husband was finalized. Although Paris (L.) was seen beside Paris (H.) last weekend at her 24th birthday celebrations, rumors are milling around that she has dropped him for another Greek, "playboy" Chris Contogouris.

Tuesday, February 22, 2005

Oh, puh-lease.

Mischa Barton has a "hard time" wearing designer clothes on TV drama The OC - as she prefers to dress as a "motorcycle chick" in real-life.
The 19-year-old beauty struggles with her wealthy character Marissa Cooper's "preppier" wardrobe and often finds herself discarding a number of outrageous designs.
Barton says, "I have a really hard time with a lot of it (wardrobe), because she's preppier than me. Sometimes on the show we try out new things that people really aren't ready for - that even we aren't ready for.
"She's such a Southern California girl, so her look is laid-back and colourful."
In contrast Barton's personal taste involves "wearing vintage rock T-shirts and boots."
She adds, "I don't think Marissa would like to look like a motorcycle chick. I buy a lot of vintage, but Marissa would only do vintage in a high-end, classic way. Everything she wears is really expensive and understated."

(Credit: contactmusic.com)

Mischa? A motorcycle chick? Ha!

Purchase of the week, says I.

Although my personal pick was the discontinued raspberry-colored Emerge "Community" sweatshirt. It will be arriving in the mail shortly.

Sunday, February 20, 2005

"You're a terrible singer, but I like this song."

I am as fickle as they come ... what's my flavor of the week? Ryan Gosling, now.

But at least I revisit them in old age -- last time I went all goo-goo ga-ga over him was when I was fourteen and he sang on Mickey Mouse Club. I think I'm going to go and download that again ...

Too much crappy news ... everyone's engaged, everyone's releasing an album, everyone's Dad got arrested for DUI and wants a reality show.

Happy 30th Birthday, Brian T. Littrell (makes hush puppies!)!

Make up your mind, bitch!

From Popdirt.com:

Aaron Carter was on 'The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch' on Wednesday (February 16). The 17-year-old talked about his long career at a young age, hanging out with Michael Jackson and Chris Tucker at his house and the conversations he had with Jacko about the child abuse allegations and his believe in Michael's innocence, "firing" his mother, how she stole money from him (they bleeped out the dollar amount), romances with Hilary Duff and Lindsay Lohan and breaking Hilary's heart by cheating on her with her best friend, denied allegations that his brother Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys hit his ex-girlfriend Paris Hilton, and more. In the second part of the interview, Lou Pearlman joined Aaron, who talked about putting together the Backstreet Boys, managing Aaron, and keeping Aaron viable as an artist 5-10 years ahead.

That boy is so messed up in the head, a good woman (or man, should that be the case) couldn't set him straight.

H-O-L-Y C-R-A-P

From FoxNews.com:
Jacko's Straight, Says Singer Aaron Carter

Despite rumblings from his mother to the contrary, 17-year-old pop singer Aaron Carter says Michael Jackson is straight and that nothing inappropriate ever happened between them.

Carter, who is estranged from his mother, also told me that his brother Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys did indeed hit pop tart Paris Hilton , as was intimated in many tabloid reports late last year.

"He hit her," Aaron told me on Sunday night at the big Grammy celebration party following the awards show, "and he hit me."

Aaron Carter plays BB King's in New York this Friday, and has all the aplomb and polish of a kid who's been working since he was five years old.

Sporting blond highlights and a 42-carat diamond-studded watch popular with rap stars, Carter also told me that he continues to be estranged from his mother and former manager, Jane Carter . He's just finished a new single for release later this month and is working on a new album due in June.

I liked Aaron Carter, which was unexpected. Being forced into the adult world at an early age has made him self-assured, opinionated and not a bit clueless. He told me that he did complete his G.E.D. for high school, but that brother Nick "is a drop-out."

He said of Jackson that the charges against him are false.

"He lives in isolation," Carter said. "He would never touch anyone."

However, Carter insisted that he thought Jackson liked women.

"He'll see a girl and comment on her," Carter said, "or want to touch her [bottom]. He likes girls."

I'm not sure what to believe anymore. Nick got his G.E.D. in 1998, so I don't know what the hell Aaron's talking about. But the little Carter's always been a big liar and a bit of a mess, so I tend to believe ... not him.

What the hell did Nick do to him that was so bad that he'd have to incriminate his own brother!?

I need to go and reevaluate my life now.

Happy Valentine's Day.

Do we see the irony in this?

13. Jesse and Katie, Once and Again 2002
Two 14-year-old budding sweethearts share their first tentative kiss in Jesse's bedroom, watering up many a cynical eye. Evan Rachel Wood (Jesse) — who was only 14 herself at the time — said: "Half the people that I told I had to have an on-screen kiss with a girl asked, 'Was it weird?' I was like, the only difference was we were both wearing lip gloss. It's just really beautiful and innocent." Of course, that Katie was played by future O.C. star Mischa Barton didn't hurt the tune-in rate.

(courtesy of TVGuide.com)

Jesse ... McCartney.
Katie ... now here, you have two choices (I'm not supposed to blow, but I know): Spencer (Jesse's former keyboardist) and Cassidy (David's daughter, wannabe -- in the best sense of the word -- pop star)

Muah.

Last of the 'teens.

Granted I'm two months (less one day -- Happy Belated 19th, Stephen Colletti!) from growing out of the 'teens, but honestly! I still qualify as one and I shouldn't have to put up with crap horoscopes like these:

It's like someone added Jell-O to the atmosphere, there's so much bouncy fun around. Use that stimulus to wish your crush, sweetie or just your best pal a happy Valentine's Day.
(courtesy of Astrology.com)

... does that even make any sense?

Although it does bring fuzzy good memories of eighth grade to mind.

In other news, I missed The Grammys but saw Saturn instead. Go me.

Everyone and their young cousin is getting engaged these days: Nicole Richie, Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera ... I guess Christina's not that young anymore, is she? Well, I guess congratulations to them all.

Last bit: I think there's a reason Paris never went to college. She belongs in high school as Queen Bee with all her Wannabes following her every step:

“I think my dogs are so much cuter than Tinkerbell (ruff! ruff!),” Spears writes.

Hilton’s rep had no comment, but a source who’s close to the partying heiress, when told of the comments, snapped, “Sounds to me like Britney’s got a serious case of canine envy. Britney copied Paris. Paris had Tinkerbell way before Britney, and Tinkerbell is much more famous that Britney’s dogs — whatever their names are.”
(courtesy of msn.com)

Whatever.

LL* never learns, or doesn't have to.

Two new Lindsay-Lohan-is-"sick" stories:

According to an Us Weekly spy, Lindsay Lohan has been "hooking up" with Johnny Knoxville in New Orleans while filming 'Just My Luck' for a couple of weeks. Knoxville is also in town filming 'The Dukes of Hazzard'. Meanwhile, Lohan had chest X-rays the other day, and took a day off shooting Monday due to a bad flu. "Everyone on set is on antibiotics," said her rep, who declined to comment on Knoxville.
(courtesy of popdirt.com)

From The New York Daily News,
Wow, the line for the ladies' room at Whiskey Blue in New Orleans must've been really long the other night: Lindsay Lohan and Samaire Armstrong had to share a stall, our spywitness tells us.

And PageSix tells us ...
THERE'S bad luck on Lindsay Lohan's movie, "Just My Luck." Lohan (above) spent a lot of time partying in the early days of filming in New Orleans and came down with a bad flu, as we reported yesterday. Now word comes that production has been shut down completely due to Lohan's illness — costing producers big bucks every day. They should call the people who made "Herbie: Fully Loaded" with Lohan — they also had their budget busted when Lohan became sick on-set. A rep for "Luck" said shooting would resume tomorrow.

I think more weight loss and some sort of breast augmentation (will she go bigger or smaller this time?) is in order.

P.S. Dear Hilary Duff,
Everyone at Wellesley College is talking about you. Except no one can spell your name :(.
Love,
Us (the one who goes to Wellesley)

_________.

We are losing sight of what really matters. Sure, fashion is key, but pairing poor grammar alongside a cute pair of Juicy sweats is not the way to go.

I was doing some online window shopping today and came across this description of a pair of black Juicy sweatpants:

'Angel' Fleece Pant, Black

Remember how positively delighted we were to spend half our waking hours in sweats before Juicy came along? Right. Us neither. Fleece pant with 'Angel' graphic at hip. 'Juicy' graphic at right side. Drawstring waist. 7.5" rise. 33" inseam. 99% Cotton/1% Polyester. Wash cold. Made in the Glamorous U.S.A.

Remember when people could spell and write proper English? Neither do we.

Oh God. Two minutes later, guess what I find? Also from ShopBop, also of Juicy Couture:
Clear vinyl carrying case with 'Love, P&G' and 'Loosten Up Wear Juicy' graphic included. Made in the Glamorous U.S.A.

Maybe we should stop trying to be so "glamorous" and start learning how to spell.

Oh. My. Gawd.

I'm not one to care about Jessica Simpson's feelings, but this is certainly crossing the line. Nick Lachey spoke to Maxim Radio at the ESPN Super Bowl party in Jacksonville, and expressed his feelings for Jessica's dog, Daisy: "She's spoiled and fat. That's right, spoiled and fat... just like its mom!"

Joe Simpson, who was at the Playboy party with his son-in-law, "liked the busty blond" Bunnies making the rounds "and kept chatting them up and dancing with them," according to a source.

Ouch.

My favorite Australian, Delta Goodrem, has been doubly hit in the media of late. Poor girl.

Her ex-boyfriend, Jay Till, came to the very reliable News of the World with gruesome details about the pair's sexcapades. (I will not be sharing.) Seems like Till needed a quick buck and decided to make it off of Delta.

On this side of the Atlantic (or Pacific, depending on how you look at it), Paris Hilton has few nice things to say about Delta:
"I met him in Vegas at my sister Nicky's birthday and we were hanging out," Hilton said of Philippoussis. "I didn't even know who this girl was, the girlfriend or whatever. I didn't even know who he was. My friend introduced us and we were all hanging out and dancing... no smooching. Who is she? I don't like that. I felt like they were using me to make her famous in America and that pissed me off because I didn't do anything. I'm mad because I'm not the type of person who would ever steal someone's boyfriend."
(taken from ContactMusic.com)

I can see Paris' side of the story, although her last statement is far from credible. I also doubt Delta wanted to use Paris for her own good -- if she did, I don't think she would've wanted it to, uh, hurt herself? Although Paris dredging this now four or five month-old story up seems to be a bit of a call for publicity in and of itself.

Well, it's okay. Delta's found herself a nice Irish boy now ...

Retraction, sort of.

I like how between the two of us, we have our likes (she likes Paris, I don't really) and our dislikes (I'm thinking she hates Hilary at this point, I still like her). It covers the whole spectrum and gives you relatively unbiased news ... yeah right.

Anyway, that photograph of Hilary is not real. The set was taken about a year ago on Robertson Blvd in Los Angeles, and last week this photo popped up. It is said that the condom was Adobe-d into her bag.

At least C can rest assured Hil may not be having sex with Joel ...

Sigh, Joel...

Tsk tsk, Hilary. They ARE illegal! And you should know better than to put things like that in a jelly bag.

Let's talk about something else.

Taken from popdirt.com:
According to the new popbitch.com newsletter, when Jessica Simpson attended an interview for a major film role last year with her father/manager, Joe, he approached the casting director after it was over and Jessica left the room. "I don't think that went too well", he said before the casting director had given his opinion. "But I have my other daughter Ashlee in the car; can I bring her in?"

Speaking of perverts, Dr. Emilio Bombay, techie extraordinaire, admitted to a Hilary Duff fetish in today's issue of the Dallas-Fort Worth Star-Telegram:
One of the scariest things you'll ever hear is the telltale whirring and clicking of a cratered hard drive. Your system won't boot, all your documents are gone, and never again will you see all those pictures of Hilary Duff you downloaded when your wife was at the dentist's ... I think I also forgot to tell you that you have to cross your fingers really, really hard if you want this to work. If it doesn't, then you can always find more Hilary Duff pictures out there, and your wife has to go back to the dentist in six months anyway.

Never thought of Hil as a perv's type of woman. She does have some Lolita-esque qualities ... that Lindsay Lohan's just too mavenish for all the Humbert Humberts out there, isn't she?

Over the holidays, I caught an episode of something -- perhaps it was Oprah? Anyway, a beautiful teenaged girl sung beautifully on the show minutes before it ended, and I never caught her name. I have at last rediscovered her.

Her name is Renee Olstead and she sings pop-jazz -- and is a mere fifteen years old. While her most recent album (her first was an independent release at the age of thirteen) features a few duds -- a cover of "Summertime" from Porgy and Bess -- her voice is still something to write home about. She does double-duty by starring on the CBS primetime show Standing Still. A favorite among fans is the original "A Love That Will Last," on which her youth really sparkles and shines. Check it out at her official site.

"It seems like everyone we know is breaking up, does anybody ever stay in love anymore?"

You may have heard, but Orly is on the market again. Another favorite couple (okay, maybe just to me, since I really admire and adore her), Orlando Bloom and Kate Bosworth have called it quits after nearly three long Hollywood years.

People magazine spoke to the "couple's representative," Robin Baum, who said: ``They did decide to take some time apart due to their upcoming work schedule, and they remain very close ... It was a mutual decision.''

Kudos to them. Maybe Orly's jealous that Kate's the new Revlon girl? And perhaps she can finally enroll in classes at Princeton now that she's got more time :).

Speaking of college, Hilary Duff told MTV in a recent interview that she started college yesterday. Gasp, the same day as I started my spring semester! Of course, with the schedule she has, she is taking these courses online.

Seems like college and breaking up are in. Hmm, maybe Joel and Hilary will follow this trend?

Britney!!

I just saw her new video and WOW! I want a car with an LV Murakami monogram dashboard! She looks good in it too, except when she says something like "I see you looking at me" and her eyes go a little crazy. It's more rock n roll than her old stuff. These artists that sing all genres annoy me. Like Lindsay, all 3 of her songs that I've heard (Drama Queen, Rumors and Over) are completely different styles. Ooh La La (hehe) is on! <3 Launch.com

M, please explain to me how Joel and Hilary got together?! It's beyond me.

Woof?

Today I got the ultimate fashion accessory, a little Chinese Crested. We named him Bentley. Yep, like the car =) I'm not sure if I should give him the Gucci dog tag, since I was saving it for a dog named Gucci but he can always wear the Coach collar, right? Petco now sells designer doggy accessories too, like $100 Italian-made sweaters with an attached feather boa! They also had a totally blinged out doggy dish! But, Petco's bad and I'd rather get a Burberry one. Pictures to come!! Remember, our LA apartment must be doggy friendly =)

So here's the plan.

After Graduation, C and I are gonna move out to Los Angeles. We're looking at apartments right now -- she wants a freeway view (weirdo) and I want Santa Monica, but will settle for others.

Two bedrooms, please.

We'll be packing up our stuff and driving cross-country. Yes, miss.

No more of this New York City shiz for us.

Happy Birthday to my favoritest blonde boy!

... you all know who I'm talking about ...

I cannot believe that he's twenty-five today. I remember when he was seventeen and the hottest piece of ass I'd ever seen. He really, really was. He called in to Miami's Y-100 today and spoke a bit about Paris ... his fake ghetto accent has lifted a little, maybe he really is growing up.

But despite it all, he still sounds seventeen or eighteen. TWENTY FIVE.

He's still got it, and I'm still lovin' it.

Let's all hold hands now and sing Happy NaNa, Happy NaNa hey hey ...

They may have fooled AIM, but they did not fool us.

AIM Today featured a photograph under the "aim Celebrity look-a-likes" section of a girl claiming to be a clone of Paris Hilton. Catherine brought the photograph in question to my attention. We were on a quest to prove AIM (not to mention the "clone") wrong.

From the look of the room and the way she was dressed and posed, I instantly knew it was from backstage of a huge event. I had a suspicion it was the Sundance Festival. I began scouring through thumbnails of events past.

But minutes passed, and I realized that I was starting at the wrong end; her hair had not looked like that since ... ever. Flipped the chart around, told Cat to look from the more recent end ... and minutes later, lo and behold, Sundance 2001 - Hugo Boss/Franchise Pictures party, there was the picture.

Click here for the original thumbnail.

There ya go.

It's about time.

I'm sorry I missed Ashlee yesterday. But then again, I'm not.

Things have taken quite a turn since the last episode of last season, when I had sunken into the throes of Ashlee Simpson-hood and was damn proud of it. I was sorry to see her go, and convinced it was the last we would see of her in the reality-show setting.

Boy what fathers can convince their daughters to do. And boy, am I sick of seeing Ashlee and hearing about Ashlee and seeing her on stations she doesn't belong -- CNN!? I watched a "sneak peak" of the first episode that aired last night, when Ashlee defended herself yet again on the whole SNL thing. If I were her, I'd just shut up and admit I was wrong. I mean, I doubt she'd lose any more fans ... playing along with the whole incongruous story her father no doubt made up is making her look so much worse. Move on from it, forget about it! People make mistakes, yes, but they move on. As should you, AS.

Anyway, if Ashlee's not going to give her father a kick in the arse, at least Jessica is:
Jessica is taking steps to distance herself professionally from her meddling pop. "Both Nick and Jessica want a family, but Joe's been dead set against it at ths stage of their careers," a friend told Star magazine. "He told Jessica, 'You've got plenty of time before you start tying yourself down.' Nick was outraged that Joe was involved in the discussion of when they should have children - and he told Jessica so." ... Simpson now is looking for someone to handle management of her film career, while Joe will continue to handle her singing duties.

Perhaps Jessica is the smart one in the family afterall ...

That's hot. Oh. \ /.

What a Paris-filled day. We watched her strut onto Conan's stage in a dayglo neon pink and violet number, only to reveal absolutely nothing about herself (except for the fact that she is, believe it or not, not dumb).

Well ... her top's about to blow.

PageSix has discovered Paris' love letters to ex-boyfriend Nick Carter.

One card signed, "Paris, AKA Le Bean," wishes Carter a happy birthday (which falls on Jan. 28), and states: "I don't want you to ever worry because I would never [bleep] this up for anything in the world. It's been really hard for me these past couple of months and I'm so happy I found you. You are the [bleep] and I love you to death."

A Valentine's card — which features heart-shaped candies with slogans like, "Spoil me," "Tease Me," "Squeeze Me" and "Love Me" — reads: "Sometimes I forget you can't see my thoughts or into my heart . . . I really hope and believe this will last forever."

Another letter marking the couple's "4-month anniversary," says: "I know you probably wonder from time to time what you mean to me . . . you mean the world to me. Think of something you couldn't live without and multiply it by a hundred."

The sweet nothings were written inside sappy greeting cards with photos of puppies. Another missive was accompanied by photos the heiress had cut out of a magazine showing herself looking glum with the headline: "Paris feels real pain." "Dear Nick, This is how I look and feel when I'm away from you," she wrote.

The dream appeared to sour by the time Paris wrote from "the plane back to L.A." having watched the movie, "50 First Dates."

Paris penned: "I just wanted to let you know how sorry I am for lying to you before and I want to let you know that it will never happen again. I can't explain the pain I felt when I thought I lost you. It was like half of me had been ripped from my soul. I never felt so alone and I never want to feel that way again. I never want to lose you. I never want to hurt you again . . . I'm so sorry for the pain that I have caused you. From now on things will be different, I promise."

Paris then promised to get a tattoo to mark a "new beginning" and, "to erase all the past bulls- -t we have done to each other." The note is signed, "Paris (your bunny forever.)"

Sometimes I forget you can't see my thoughts or into my heart ... but a tear is forming at the corner of my duct. Really.

The Beauty of the Grocery Store.

We've talked about stars. We've talked about fashion. Hell, we've talked about literature. Now it's time to bring in the food.

I braved the two feet to thirty inches (can't be bothered to find out actual measurements, although I encountered snow that didn't even reach my knee and I encountered snow -- that wasn't in a mound, mind you, that was well past waist-level) and made my first trip to the grocery store this month. My, my, my.

I'll be the first to admit that I can't cook. Bake, yes, cook, no. But I've been swept up by this sudden urge to make dishes I'm not sure even exist. I've had these crazy cravings at all times in the night -- bowtie pasta with alfredo sauce and peas and shrimp!? Mexican. Anything and everything.

I stood before the pasta aisle and found bowties for 99c. I could not find canned alfredo sauce, but saw it in the fridge aisle. Too bad my meal plan kicks up again in a week. One of these days I'm going to cook myself a delish bowl of pasta.

In the meanwhile, I got myself some snacks: three Macintosh apples, two bags of Snyder's Butter Snaps pretzels (the best hard pretzels I've ever had, right alongside Rold Gold's honey mustard / cheddar cheese ones ... summer of eighth grade, that's ALL we ate, remember C?), and a tin of International Coffees in Hazelnut Belgian Cafe (I think this was the one Catherine warned me of). The coffee tasted nasty at first, but the trick is to add a teaspoon of sugar. I promise.

Oh shiz! I just missed the first forty minutes of Everwood. I'm out.

Please, be "Over."

I just watched Lindsay Lohan's newest video, "Over." I don't get it. What goes on in the video has little, if anything, to do with the song ... and on top of that, just what happens in the video? Does the love interest die? What in the video, pray tell, is over?!

And all the sex, sex, prancing around in undies ... ugh, remember those eight-year-olds who look up to you, Lohan!

I haven't really spoken on the "topic" of Jesse McCartney yet, but here goes. Why is he number one at mtv.com?! What is making him so popular? I mean, is it timing? Luck? Aaron Carter never broke MTV, nevertheless the top ten. Are they not virtual teen idol twins?

I'm just a little annoyed that Jesse has "made it," and I couldn't even tell you why. I remember way back to late 2002/early 2003 when he'd just recorded "Beautiful Soul" and when they began playing it on Radio Disney. That was two years ago and agh is all I can say. He's not supposed to be popular! Perhaps he will be a one-hit wonder?

An interesting, albeit old, article on what I like to call hookup recycling in Hollywood.

Breaking point ...

I'm disappointed and disgusted and all those other emotions that oft follow the name "Lindsay Lohan."

There is an "article" about her in The New Yorker. The New Yorker.

Sigh.

My first celebrity sighting!

The other day, I was walking around SoHo trying to find Vivienne Westwood (which doesn't seem to exist, if anyone knows where it is, please share!) and I saw my first celebrity/ies: N.E.R.D.! They were with a huge entourage of hot girls and big body guards and they came out of a fancy sneaker store. Actually, they crawled out from under the gate of the fancy sneaker store, which leads me to think that the store was closed that day specifically for them. Why else would they be HERE on a cold, rainy day instead of in LA or some other warm place?

Anyway, we didn't approach them because that would be SOOO touristy! Ew! Actually I wouldn't even have noticed them if Arthur didn't point them out. I did notice that Pharrell has a nice tattoo going up his neck and the Asian guy is like super short. We didn't see the other guy. But we did semi-stalk them for a few steps until I realized we were walking in the wrong direction.

Unfortunately, the annoyance of not being able to find Vivienne Westwood and also finding out that the Yohji Yamamoto store is really bland totally cancels out the excitement of this first celebrity sighting.

Oh, also when I was in Guess I saw two blondes, one of whom looked incredibly like
Paris. Then she turned to the other blonde and started talking in another language.

Okay, I've been looking through Google images for a decent picture of his tat and I can't find one, so no picture for this post. Although, I am a bit sad because he's much hotter than I thought he was when I saw him.

That's nice ...

... but you've got it all wrong.

The Daily News' Mr. Blackwell rates the Worst Dressed of 2004:
1. Nicollette Sheridan
2. Lindsay Lohan
3. (tie) Ashlee and
Jessica Simpson
4. Courtney Love
5. Paris Hilton
6. Serena Williams
7. Britney Spears
8. Paula Abdul
9. Meryl Streep
10. Anna Nicole Smith

Here's mine:
1. Britney Spears
2. Paris Hilton
3. Mariah Carey
4. Tara Reid
5. Anna Kournikova
6. Hilary Duff
7. Serena Williams
8. Keira Knightley
9. Lindsay Lohan
10. Scarlett Johansson

That took me forever and there are, admittedly, a lot of favorites in the mix, but oh well. Hire a better stylist this year ... my advice.

Oh no! Quite mad I didn't realize Delta Goodrem was going to be on "North Shores" tonight -- had it on (by chance -- the first time it's ever played in this room before) and heard a familiar song. Too bad I didn't pay attention to the first forty minutes of the show. Who told me her episode was going to be in March!?

And Willa Ford is taking a break from music. She leaves a gracious note for her fans. None of that I'm-bad-but-really-not-I'm-so-proud-of-my-fake-boobs-and-vagina (the vagina's real, the boobs ... not so much. Just to clarify) bitchery:
Hey guys,

I'm doing really well! I didn't mean I'm giving up on music ,its just that its been really difficult to bring it to you the way I've always wanted and promised,I'm currently focusing on a tv and film career yes but I am also looking for a new home for my music that would allow me to put out a credible record. Please understand I want it worse than any of you can possibly know, I just realize the better I do in all fields the more likely to get to the point where I can always deliver great tunes.. Its really been bumpy and it's important that we all stay positive and that I hope even without music you'll all support my shows, etc.! I wish 2005 to be the year to really make an impact and hope the same for all of you in your ventures!- really miss you all, and hope to be on that stage again soon for ya!......love,willa"

We always knew you were a softy inside, Willa.

What's happening?

So, my insignificant opinion of 24? It's very suspenseful and thrilling, but it won't keep me as a regular. It is more or less devoid of hot people, save for Debbie (Leighton Meester) and Behrooz' mother (Shohreh Aghdashloo), both of whom are guest stars. I knew I should've started watching when Elisha Cuthbert was still on the show!

I am desperately in search of this Soixante-Neuf (translation: "Sixty-Nine" or, more explicitly, "69") necklace, worn by the ever-lovely (and again, another beautiful and gorgie Aussie) Rose Byrne in an old issue of YM:

Does anyone know where I can find this particular necklace? Or a store that sells Soixante-Neuf? Or where I can find a necklace extremely similar to it?

I am watching the July 2003 Mandy Moore episode of Diary, and prior to it, I'd taped an episode of ET on MTV. Would you believe that not a year-and-a-half ago we were only talking about Britney and Justin? And how she'd only ever had sex with one guy, and one guy only? (Justin, of course.) How quickly things change.

Also, in that episode, talk of Reese and Ryan (who're they again?), Sarah Jessica Parker, Jen and Brad (scoff), Ashton Kutcher ... Old Hollywood, relative to the featured stars of today. Back then, Lindsay Lohan was "the girl from The Parent Trap", and Paris Hilton was, at best, the sixteen-year-old (forever sixteen and promiscuous on Page Six) who danced atop tables in New York City clubs, if she wasn't just some girl with a funny name.

An interesting quote from Lohan. Not exactly interesting in the real sense of the world, but interesting because it's coming from her. Or maybe not. You be the judge:
"I only recorded two of three songs in the studio. Everything else was done out of the studio. It will be in a car for some next album... or in a bathroom," she added.

Last, but not least, my discovery of the laundry machine as propaganda. I threw in a dish towel stained with beef stew, and upon taking it out of the washer, I noticed that chunks of carrot were still stuck onto the towel. I brought a fingernail to the surface of the mashed-up carrot and scraped it off with ease. Figuring I could easily wash it off with a little soap and a lot of hot water, I ran to the bathroom and did just that.

The washing machine is not doing its job. (Or maybe it's true that we Chinese do laundry best.) It is a waste of water, money, detergent and electricity. Jobs for all at dams, detergent warehouses, banks, water mills all across the United States. Or wherever we're importing our detergent from these days. And the entire state of California, with all its generating mills.

I guess the butt-scratching, beer-burping frat boy knows best afterall: "If it looks and smells clean, it's clean."

Ew, no.

I just had to stop by and voice my opinion.

I just read in an old Us Weekly that "marketing expert" Linda Kaplan said that "[Lindsay Lohan] has a positive image with young girls."

I should hope not! I am very disgusted. I hope these young girls' parents see Lindsay as a terrible influence to anyone under the age of fifteen and ban their children from certain products of hers.

Disgusted!

Teens on television

First off, Happy 27th to A.J. McLean of the Backstreet Boys! I'm really, really looking forward to "24" tonight; I've never seen the show and I'm excited. I'll probably not like it ... we'll see.

I've been noticing that more and more actual teenagers have been playing teenagers on primetime television!

Here's a list, off the top of my head:
Amanda Bynes ("What I Like About You"), Kaley Cuoco ("8 Simple Rules"), Emily van Camp ("Everwood"), most of the cast of "Seventh Heaven" (Tyler Hoechlin, David Gallagher, etc), Brittany Snow and Vanessa Lengies ("American Dreams"), Jesse McCartney ("Summerland"), much of the cast of "The Mountain" (Tara Thompson, Penn Badgley, Kaylee DeFer)

Either we, as a people, are aging faster physically, or casting directors have decided that it's more "real" to have kids portray kids. But then again, there are plenty of actors who play characters younger than they are ... the more popular shows like "The O.C." aren't helping either.

Speaking of the "The O.C.," there are reasons the second season is sucking so badly. The writing has gone somewhat downhill, don't you think? And so has the acting. The writing has become far too self-aware, making stabs at its cast members and itself too often. On top of that, the plotlines for the characters are ... uncharacteristic of these characters! The acting, by and large, has not helped the lack of quality in the writing. In particular, Adam Brody, Rachel Bilson and Mischa Barton seem to have taken their characters and run with them.

It annoys me to no end to watch Brody shrivel into a ball of egotism. And Rachel. Enough of the head-popping-faux-gangsta-accent-talk. You didn't do it last season, and it's not like Zach brought any gangsta to Orange County. Mischa Barton, to the delight of some, has sunken into the background and become somewhat rough. But apparently DJ brings da hood to the O.C., so that can be accounted for.

Thank goodness, however, that Ben McKenzie and all of the adult actors have not let the fame get to their heads. I'm just waiting, now, for "The O.C." to turn into a fireball and shoot itself off of PCH (Pacific Coast Highway) into, perhaps, "Laguna Beach."

Friday, January 07, 2005

Ahhh!

Just days ago, I watched some E! special, which labelled Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston the fairy-tale couple all of Hollywood looked to. But what now? They've split!?

I never cared much for them as a couple, but still, the news is shocking. Brad Pitt, divorcee? Words I'd never thought I'd hear in the same sentence...

Other terrible celeb news ... I heard "Popstar in a near-fatal car accident" on Extra last night, and the pangs in my heart and mind told me it was a Carter. I feared for the worst (that it was dear, sweet Nickee), but alas, it was the uglier one. Scary nonetheless.

And I would like to retract my statement on Lindsay Lohan's breasts from last night. A picture from her new music video, "Over", says more than I could ever say myself:

Bizarro!

This is SO bizarro, because I ran into this picture of Paris, which made me decide to post here. And THEN I see Maxine's new posts, which I didn't know about until i signed on! Why would anyone change their shoes AND bag in the middle of the day?

Unless... *gasp!* she wore the same outfit twice! No I refuse to believe! And Maxine, those mukluks don't look so hot on her anyway =)

I'm strangely attracted to the man kiss picture below. I can't wait for Jake's new movie when he has a man kiss too!

Speaking of Jake...

WHOA!? Okay, that was mean. But this picture freaks me out. Really. I mean, his arm is like abnormally loooongggggg and she's so tiny!

Little presents for you.

Urghhh ... one of these days, Catherine and I are going to 1) tamper with the template of our somewhat unattractive blog, and 2) figure out why our top entry isn't showing up at the TOP of the page. In the meantime, read on ...

One of our favorite sites brings a slice of incriminating evidence to the Lohan world (yet another).

As much as I'd like to say she has implants, I think those are 100% real. Weight loss. (I can't believe I've stooped to such levels as to share my opinion on this mindless matter.)

This photo's for Catherine, who, in dreams, is married to Maroon 5's Adam Levine.

Left to right: John Mayer, Adam Levine.

It's nice to know your man looks good in a skirt, isn't it?

Reading Resolution: began reading Zadie Smith's White Teeth again. Have not yet caught up to the part I last left off, sad I know. I also plan to finish John Knowles' A Separate Peace sometime today, in between cooking for myself, complaining about my school's incompetent administrative assistants and drooling over Brody.

Totally saw this coming ...

... yet was still a bit taken aback.

I knew it was going to happen, but did not expect it so soon:
Film star Jude Law will marry his girlfriend Sienna Miller after he proposed to her on Christmas Day, it was reported today. The 32-year-old popped the question to Sienna, 23, before they headed off with Jude’s children for a holiday to the Seychelles. A spokeswoman for the couple confirmed the engagement, and said the three youngsters were delighted. Caira Parks told The Sun: “It’s true they are engaged. Jude has bought Sienna a big cluster diamond ring. “He asked Sienna to marry him on Christmas Day. They spent Christmas together in England. “They then headed to the Indian Ocean. They have told their families the news and they’re thrilled, as are Jude’s children. They love Sienna and can’t wait for the wedding.”

Attempted to read several books before bed last night; even "The Devil Wears Prada" could not hold my attention. It looks like I'll be sticking to "Bright Lights, Big City" for now.

Happy New Year!

2005 is very, very welcome in this house!

My one "real" ("real" as I know it won't be happening) resolution is to read 52 books in 52 weeks (idea thanks to Sara Nelson's memoir, So Many Books, So Little Time). That is, one year. Hopefully I'll be able to catch up in these next few weeks so I can fall behind later? I'll let you know week by week how this one's going, and what I'm reading.

Gawk.

Drool. Steve Madden is a genius.

Not too much news on the celeb front. Great admiration for Sandra Bullock, who has donated $1 million to American Red Cross to help out in the tsunami relief efforts. I wish I could donate that much. But I shouldn't even be speaking -- I haven't donated ANYTHING. Yet.

Funny pic, not quite funny enough, but it's all I have to offer, OKAY!? Everyone's been on holiday!!!

Can you say She-Man?
